Snowlion Alaskan Malamutes is a small show and sledding kennel located in the high Sierra near Lake Tahoe. We have over 50 years experience living and training Malamutes since we adopted our first rescue in 1978. As preservationist breeders our goal is to maintain the classic beauty and characteristics of the AKC Alaskan Malamute as a freighting breed. Our focus is on excellent temperament, athleticism, and versatility, all of which are required for dogs to run on sled teams, as well as fulfill the role of beloved family companion. In addition to training and running  sled dogs, we have been showing and breeding AKC Alaskan Malamutes since 1989. With almost 40 years experience as show and working sled dog breeders, we are devoted to sharing advice and training tips with new puppy owners and committed to breeding healthy, long-lived Malamutes by extensive health-testing and careful selection of parent dogs. Snowlion Kennels is world-renowned with over 100  champions of record and working-titled dogs (sled, packing, and lead dog titles)  in the US, Austalia, Russia, Europe, Asia and S. America. In addition we have produced several Best in Show and Best in Specialty winners who form the basis of our preservation program using frozen semen and artificial insemination to the great dogs of 30+ years ago.
