The goal of Overwatch Kennels is to produce temperamentally stable healthy puppies. In addition to health testing to CHIC standards and competing with and titling our dogs, puppies are raised using evidence based practices from Puppy Culture as well as Avidog. Puppies are temperament tested to identify their ideal placement and matched to their families accordingly. Special emphasis is placed on pedigree review- while I cannot gurantee puppies will never develop epilepsy, the utmost effort is made to identify potential ancestors who are linked to seizures and make sure those ancestors are not overly represented in prospective pairings. After years of working in veterinary medicine, the sound and sight of a seizing dog is deeply ingrained in my memory and I work hard to shield my families from that horror. My puppies and adult dogs reside inside my home with my family and are raised alongside children, livestock, and other animals including the dogs’ pet cat whom they each adore. In addition to AKC competition, we also show as owner handlers in UKC where my dogs have competed for best in show almost every time we have entered in multiple shows and multiple states.
